A SS dispatch rider blows past the sentry post at Marwencol with an urgent message.
"After being beaten into a brain-damaging coma by five men outside a bar, Mark Hogancamp builds a 1/6th scale World War II-era town in his backyard. Mark populates the town he dubs "Marwencol" with dolls representing his friends and family and creates life-like photographs detailing the town's many relationships and dramas. Playing in the town and photographing the action helps Mark to recover his hand-eye coordination and deal with the psychic wounds of the attack. When Mark and his photographs are discovered, a prestigious New York gallery sets up an art show. Suddenly Mark's homemade therapy is deemed "art", forcing him to choose between the safety of his fantasy life in Marwencol and the real world that he's avoided since the attack...."

Brazil's Cachorro loucos

Brazil's Motoboy couriers deliver of a variety of objects such as pizza, fast-food, documents, payment receipts, etc. This profession is also known as “estafeta” (a type of messenger) in Portugal.

The Motoboys also have developed their own jargon – here are some examples:

Cachorro louco (crazy dog): feared motoboy that rides daringly through traffic and becomes a danger to himself and other motoboys.

Comprar chão ou comprar terreno (to buy ground or to buy land): to fall off the bike.

Sem terra
(without land): someone that never had to ‘comprar chão’.

Corredor (hallway): the space between the cars through which the motoboys pass.

"A British army dispatch rider sitting on his motorcycle, apparently looking at a map. The painting and logo on the frame below the cross bar suggest that this motorcycle is a Triumph. Triumph produced some 30,000 model H roadsters for the War Office. The machines were nicknamed the "Trusty Triumphs"."

"An exciting moonlight encounter between motor-cycle dispatch rider and a party of "Uhlans" by Christopher Clark 1914.

WW1 Belgian Dispatch Rider E. Van Isaker barely escaped a party of Germans by the skin of his teeth on his 7 horsepower Indian. Isaker succeeded in getting to safety but crashed soon after.

Journeying from Waiheke Island, New Zealand to New York City and back to promote the most energy efficient vehicle there is.“They (the cities) are not changing us, may be we are changing them”, says Kevin (from NYC).., and he could be right."

The dispatch riders-Dibbo.

Via: tank book

'It was during runs between Couin and Army Headquarters, that a dispatch-rider, Dibbo George, used to be met at an unfrequented spot by a semi-savage dog, who's habit was to rush after the machine, barking and biting. One day before starting out, Dibbo loaded his revolver, normally an unnecessary precaution three miles behind the front line, and later in the day returning to the dispatch-riders' mess he was greeted with, "Did you get him?" from his colleagues.

No, replied Dibbo, exhibiting a woefully-torn jack-boot, "but the bastard got me"....
