He writes:
I thought I'd send you a few pictures of my bike.
Its a 1998 GSXR 750 SRAD Street fighter, a modern interpretation of the Cafe Racer and in my opinion by definition a bike that is lighter and kicks out more power than its stock counterpart.
Specs:
1998 GSXR 750 SRAD FRAME
2001 GSXR 1000 ENGINE, HARNESS, CLOCKS, FUEL PUMP RETROFITTED IN THE 98 TANK.
LASER CUT SUBFRAME, ENGINE MOUNTS,
YOSHIMURA TRS SHORTENED TO 300 MM
KX MOTORCROSS BARS, CUSTOM BAR MOUNTS
147 HP 60LBS LIGHTER THAN THE 2001 GSXR 1000
That is freaking awesome! I love the raw metal look. Thanks for the pic!

Hey Steve,
Thanks for your comments.Like you said great handling bike just cluttered and a little ugly. The rear rim is a stock 17" the front I changed to 18" it balanced the profile and lowered it an inch. The front and rear suspension were lowered 3" and still has 7" of travel.I cut about 12" off the back frame and welded a new hoop.Seat pan is stock with new foam. The tank is off an old Harley and mounted like the factory. The exhaust, side panels and head light bracket are all one off made by me.The oil cooler I remounted off the front of the frame. All the old tabs were cut and ground off to clean up the frame. The stance of the bike came out perfect and I can still lower it an inch front or rear. The motor is stock except for the pipe, jet kit and K&N filter.Tires are Scorpion A/Ts.The bike is for sale so I can start a new project over the winter.

Reader Ride. SR500 Fighter.
Zaine Engelbrecht sends in this nearly complete SR500 fighter.
He Writes:
I am not finished yet battling my ass of with the back brakes.( modification without ruining the original)
The swingarm pivot i cut just before the bearings each side so its 80mm, The nice thing is all the SR parts just bolt back on, no mods to my original frame.
The triple clamps just need different bearings and it bolts right on. The handles is of an Chinese import Hunter as its the only 41mm raised ones i could find.
I cut the brake disk spacer at the back by 4.5mm to line up the chain, will show you on photos how close the 180 back wheel is to the right side swingarm, the wheel is now only 4.5mm off centre.
Front discs is standard R6 and brakes like an accident!!!!!
Rear sprocket is machined alloy!!!!!! R 700 later! (40 teeth)
I will start the monoshock conversion tonight, and will send as many photos as possible,
7 weeks and not finished yet!!!
BIKE IS FOR SALE AFTER THE MONOSHOCK CONVERSION :-(
Best regards
Zaine Engelbrecht

Reader Ride. Stunner of a Custom Buell
Paul Shore send in this sweet Buell.
He Writes:
Here are some pictures of a buell that i built for my wife Ann. a bit of Ducati but more Buell = Bucati????
At break in, we had 100 bhp + 100 ftlb torque with another 1000 rpm to go and power / torque still climbing.
That was with the PSI series III 48 ( which actually measures 57mm across the throat ) lectron style carb. having some trouble with
the adjustment we opted to go to a mikuni HSR 48 flat slide which actually dropped power by 3% but adjustability seems much
easier / user friendly than the PSI.
Enjoy!

Outrageous Turbocharged Harley Street Tracker / Street Fighter or... whatever...
Sure it's a big corporate sponsored show bike (which I usually don't go in for) but the creative routing of the exhaust straight off the turbocharger is just too freaking cool.

Reader Chris Max sent me the following along with a bunch of great Streetfighter shots: I looked through your Motorcycle Pic a Day Blog and came to the conclusion that you need more streetfighters in your life.
And you're right Chris I love the streetfighter style! Here's one of the bikes he sent. I'll get more of them up over the next week or so.

UPDATE: Reader ride. KZ1000 shaft drive streetfighter.
Reader John Cripe sends in some pics of his KZ1000 shaft drive streetfighter. I'm labeling it a streetfighter but it really more than that. I love bikes like this. It's the kind of build that you might think about but only one in a billion might try. And what a great result. That rear end is inspired.
Thanks Much for the pics!

My Pleaure John. Beautiful Bike and a Beautiful Tribute.

Thanks Much for the pics!
John Writes:
Steve,
Thanks for the thumbs up comments.
I'll give you some history on the BIMON. The acronym stands for "built in memory of Nigel" My son we lost in 2004. I needed something to get my head into and we rode motocross together so a tribute bike seemed appropriate. The 65 is his AMA number.
The build; I purchased the KZ,my second 1000 shaft, at a yard sale for $125.00. I had no intention of doing the build then but the bike was in sad shape and I thought it would be a parts bike if needed. I stripped it down and put it in boxes. It sat for months.. I honestly didn't have a clue on the direction it would go but I new it had to be special. I originally thought a mono-shock would be cool. So I got out the sawsall and cut the sub frame off. At that point I was committed so I purchased a used R1 shock off ebay and began the drawings to design the shock mount to the swingarm. I was never good in geometry so I guessed at a good trajectory for the shock and gusseted the frame and swingarm to handle the weight. After the shock was mounted I designed a new shorter and lower sub frame, put the engine back in the frame and checked the sag. The sub frame almost touched the rear tire so I knew I had to do something different. I got another R1 shock and cut away and redesigned the mounts for 2 shocks and it worked great. I cut the original seat pan for the seat and used the orig tail but cut it in more of a Z1 shape. Ebay was my best friend and I purchased the following for the build; a set of Vortex clip-ons, a used set of orig gauges, a set of rearsets with rear master from a Ninja (I think) a front brake perch and master from a GSXR,some carbon fiber mini signals, an R1 tail light and a set of coils and wires. I painted the frame silver to cover up my less than perfect welds. The frame is gusseted in several places to eliminate that flex we took for granted in the 70's. The seat cover was a replacement cover that I had for my son's race bike and I hand cut the foam for the seat. The paint job was donated ( cost me a steak dinner) by a very good friend and fellow KZ lover. I wanted to pay him but he would only accept a steak dinner. The paint is symbolic as well. The 99 Ford blue and silver is the color of the truck my son had his accident in, the yellow is Suzuki yellow, his race bike. The upper triple clamp was machined by another very close friend from billet aluminum.
I have put over 3000 trouble free miles on it and it rides better than my 1980 shaftie, which has all new suspension. I had it at Mid Ohio for "Vintage Motorcycle Days" and got a lot of smiles out of it.
I have a photo collection of the build and still can't believe I managed to make it what it is.
I hope I wasn't too long winded on my story. I know it was theraputic to do the project and I get to ride with Nigel every time I ride it so it continues to get excellent smiles per gallon. Even those who have ridden KZ's all their lives scratch there heads in amazement when they see it.
Thanks for letting me share my story Steve. Thanks for putting it on your site as well.
