Transportation for the mind: Designer Martin and Roger Dean's retreat pod. Created in the 70's the fibreglass pod featured a stereo, adequate air-conditioning and to counter possible claustrophobia the door would shut by its own weight, so no catches were needed. The interior of the Pod was lit by hundreds of tiny orange neon bulbs which looked liked "tiny glow-worms"...we want one.

The Unipod Gyroscopically Balanced Personal Vehicle from concept art and futurist Syd Mead's book Sentinel. The art was originally created for an Automobile Quarterly article.

Mead: " a carapace with with a pair of mercury gyros on the back that would serve as a personal mobility device in future megastructure environments and multi- level commercial areas."

Where the Automodule is now remains a mystery.
